Leadership Development

Leadership Lived Out Program

In 2013, the Duke Department of Head and Neck Surgery & Communication Sciences developed the Leadership Lived Out program, an interprofessional development training program for all members of the health care team. Participants engage in leadership development seminars on issues such as problem solving, decision-making, self-awareness, empathy, motivation, and empowerment.

ALICE Program

In 2018, Dr. Eileen Raynor participated in the Academic Leadership, Innovation, and Collaborative Engagement (ALICE) program offered by the Duke Office for Faculty. The ALICE program is a leadership development opportunity for mid-career women faculty in the School of Medicine and provides in-depth opportunities for leadership skill development, personal reflection and goal setting, peer-mentoring, and structured 360 feedback.

North Carolina Medical Society Kanof Institute for Physician Leadership

Pediatric Otolaryngology faculty have opportunities to participate in North Carolina Medical Society (NCMS) leadership programs provided by the Kanof Institute for Physician Leadership (KIPL). Dr. Eileen Raynor completed the KIPL Leadership College in 2012 and is now on the Board of Directors for the NCMS.

Additional State Leadership

Dr. Eileen Raynor serves as the physician member of the North Carolina Board of Examiners for speech language pathology and audiology, on the Board of Directors for the North Carolina Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery Society (NCOHNS), and as an at-large member of the North Carolina Medical Society Board of Directors.
