We are delighted to announce the successful FY26 match of Ryan Thorpe, MD, to the Duke University Rhinology and Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery Fellowship program.
Dr. Thorpe is completing his residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. Additionally, he undertook two years of research in molecular genetics through an NIH-funded T32 fellowship at the University of Iowa's Molecular Otolaryngology and Renal Research Laboratories under the mentorship of Dr. Richard J.H. Smith.
Dr. Thorpe’s academic journey includes earning an M.D. from the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University and a B.S. in Biological Sciences from the University at Buffalo. In recognition of his excellence, Dr. Thorpe was honored with the Robert R. Updegraft Resident Award and the Alfreda Van Wart Resident Research Award in 2023.
We are confident that Dr. Thorpe will make significant contributions to the Rhinology and Skull Base Surgery field, and we look forward to mentoring him throughout his fellowship year.
The Duke University Rhinology and Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery Fellowship is a one-year program designed for those planning to pursue a career in academics or private practice. It provides comprehensive training in basic and advanced rhinology, endoscopic skull base surgery, endoscopic orbital surgery, and sinonasal oncology.
