Duke Health: Hearing Preserved After Surgery to Remove Large Acoustic Neuroma
In September 2023, Eliana Vera González was diagnosed with an acoustic neuroma, a non-cancerous tumor near the brain and inner ear, which posed a risk of permanent function loss if removed. Duke surgeons successfully used an advanced technique to remove the tumor and preserve her hearing.
