We are delighted to announce that Dr. Nidhi Mahendra has been appointed as the new Communication Sciences Division Co-Chief in the Duke Department of Head and Neck Surgery & Communication Sciences and Co-Chief of the Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology in the Duke University Hospital, effective October 1, 2024.

Dr. Charles R. Woodard was recently approved by the Board of Trustees to be promoted to Professor, career track, effective September 1, 2024.

In September 2023, Eliana Vera González was diagnosed with an acoustic neuroma, a non-cancerous tumor near the brain and inner ear, which posed a risk of permanent function loss if removed. Duke surgeons successfully used an advanced technique to remove the tumor and preserve her hearing.
