Kristal M. Riska, AuD, PhD, CCC-A presented her NIH-funded research on the association between hearing loss and falls at this year’s American Speech-Language-Hearing Association’s (ASHA) conference along with her collaborators Sherri Smith, AuD, PhD and Hannah Siburt, PhD (UNC). The presentation was selected as a “Changemaker’s Session” by ASHA, recognizing the innovative work and its impact on the profession. Outside of clinical roles, Dr. Riska and Dr. Smith both lead the work at Head and Neck Surgery & Communication Sciences department’s Hearing and Balance lab.
