Note for International Applicants

International applicants can only be accepted through the H-1B visa mechanism, which requires passing scores on all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensure Examination (USMLE) and a North Carolina medical license. If an international applicant is accepted, they will need to obtain a North Carolina medical license prior to submitting an H-1B request.

Required documents, in addition to that listed above, include a copy of the passport and degree information. Our internal processing is requires approximately 4-6 weeks before we submit the application to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. The government will review the application and ask questions, deny, or approve the application. If an applicant is currently outside of the U.S., you will need to apply for an H-1B visa before coming to the U.S.  If you are in the U.S. currently but not a citizen, we usually request a change of status.
