Otology and Neurotology/Skull Base Surgery Fellowship
Duke offers a one-year Otology and Neurotology/Skull Base Surgery Fellowship that provides structured clinical opportunities for trainees to develop advanced skills in otology, neurotology, and skull base surgery. The trainee will gain competency in otology and neurotology/lateral skull base procedures at the main Duke University Hospital in Durham, at Duke Raleigh Hospital, at a satellite ambulatory surgery center, and at the Durham Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
A robust experience in lateral skull base pathology (vestibular schwannomas, meningiomas, CSF leaks), vestibular surgery (superior canal dehiscence repair, labyrinthectomy/endolymphatic sac decompression), cochlear implantation in both adults and children and a vast opportunity for chronic ear surgery is provided.
A meaningful, supervised research experience will be encouraged to enhance the clinical experience. Our fellows will gain practical experience in teaching residents at all of the Duke locations and the Durham VA hospital and have opportunities to participate in research that pushes the limits of knowledge in our field.
Please note that though one-year fellowship positions are filled through June 2026, Duke will be applying for ACGME accreditation for a two-year neurotology fellowship with the first position to begin in July 2026. Accreditation status will be updated on this website as this process progresses, with an anticipated application to begin in June 2025 for a July 2026 start date.
