Clinical and Research Interests

Prior to residency my research interests included gender disparities in academic medicine, sinonasal carcinoma, rhinology and skull base clinical treatments. However, I hope to further include health equity, medical education, and global surgery.

What were you looking for in a residency program?

I sought a residency program that would allow for excellent surgical training and education, but most importantly would promote and support resident research interests while ensuring teamwork and camaraderie.

What are the strengths of the Duke program?

Well-rounded and represented faculty across all subspecialties allowing for numerous educational resources, opportunity and surgical training that continues to promote our trajectory of growth. Most importantly, the support from faculty and co-residents remains one of the many strengths of Duke.

What advice do you have for incoming interns?

Continue to enjoy your hobbies and activities outside of medicine, maintain and grow your relationships with your loved ones, and understand that despite the difficulties you may or may not face it is a learning experience that takes time to adjust.

What do you like best about living in Durham and the Triangle?

Access to farmer's market, local shops and restaurants, trails/state parks, and major cities all within a short driving distance.

What do you like to do outside of Duke?

I enjoy working out, practicing yoga, cooking, learning languages, traveling, spending time with friends and family.
