Research from Dr. Brad Goldstein's Lab Published in Nature Neuroscience

Brad J. Goldstein, MD, PhD, Vice Chair of Research, Department of Head and Neck Surgery & Communication Sciences, was recently the senior author of an article in Nature Neuroscience on olfactory neurogenesis. Using nasal tissue from healthy adults and single-cell RNA sequencing, Dr. Goldstein’s team identified neural stem cell and neural progenitor cell pools in the adult olfactory epithelium, indicating that the production of neurons occurs over time in the human olfactory system.
