HNS&CS PGY-3 Residents Enhance Skills at American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy Annual Course

In July, PGY-3 residents Hannah Crowder, Lisa Earnest- Noble, Nick Frisco, and Trevor Torgerson attended the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy (AAOA) annual course on allergy and immunology.

The event was held at the Diplomat Hotel in Hollywood, FL. This course is attended by our PGY-3 residents annually and is beneficial to their training by introducing foundational principles in the recognition and management of patients with allergic upper airway disease, which is highly prevalent in North Carolina.

“I believe that the extra training at the course was important because, although we have wonderful allergy specialists at Duke that we refer to, it is nice to learn how to manage these patients primarily,” said Nick Frisco.

Upon residency completion, graduates may be tasked with managing their allergic patients primarily, and this course provides them with the necessary skill sets.
