Dr. Jamila Minga Joins R21 Grant Study on Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura as Co-Investigator

Jamila Minga, PhD, CCC-SLP will serve as co-I on a R21 grant awarded to Dr. Oluwatoyosi Onwuemene, Department of Medicine, and Dr. Coles, Department of Population Health Sciences, to conduct, “A Clinical Trial Readiness Study of Patient Reported Outcome Measures in Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (TTP)” by the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS).

Immune thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (iTTP) is a rare but impactful disease, affecting cognitive function in patients and posing significant economic burdens. The study will address a critical barrier to iTTP clinical trial readiness and help to develop a measurement strategy for the assessment of cognition.

The Minga Right Hemisphere Communication Laboratory at Duke University School of Medicine will provide expertise in diagnosis of cognitive impairments.
