Clinical and Research Interests
I currently have research interest in the pediatric population and understanding ways to improve patient/family health education.
What were you looking for in a residency program?
It was really important for me to be a part of a program that participated in outreach and educating the community, a global health presence, and had great representation in all the specialties. Duke's otolaryngology program not only met all my expectations, but also has been incredibly supportive, provided great mentorship, and a wonderful source of community.
What do you like best about living in Durham and the Triangle?
There are so many fun activities to do in the Triangle! With options like afternoon tea at the Washington Duke Inn, summer concerts at Durham Central Park, Downtown Farmer's Markets, kayaking and sand volleyball at Lake Crab Tree, one never gets bored. There are so many young professionals in this area which makes making friends outside of work very possible!
What do you like to do outside of Duke?
I enjoy biking along the many available *paved* trails in Durham, visiting the gorgeous Durham Main Library (and all the smaller branches), trying new coffee shops, attending shows at the Durham Performing Arts Center, roller skating in Raleigh (and soon Durham!), volunteering throughout the community, binging Korean Dramas and animes, baking, and spending time with my church family.
What advice do you have for incoming interns?
I highly encourage incoming interns to identify the activities and people in their lives that help keep them balanced, and plan how to maintain that balance in residency. It is very possible to nurture relationships and continue the hobbies outside of medicine that bring you joy while in residency!
