Clinical and Research Interests
Currently, my clinical interests are in head and neck oncology and reconstruction/facial plastics. However, I am looking forward to my clinical training to get further exposure in all the exciting areas within otolaryngology and subspecialties. My major research interests revolve around understanding mechanisms of cancer invasion and metastasis. I am looking forward to my research years within residency training to further expand on this interest within the field of head and neck oncology.
What were you looking for in a residency program?
The most important criteria I looked for in a residency program was a supportive and collaborative environment within the department. During my interview I got a sense that Duke ENT residents look out for each other and that faculty are truly invested in education and training. That first impression has been spot on! Also, as someone interested in having a career involving research, it was important for me to be in an environment that values research and innovation.
What advice do you have for incoming interns?
My advice would be to celebrate your accomplishments and go on a fun vacation before intern year!
What do you like best about living in Durham and the Triangle?
I like that it's a city with plenty to do, good restaurants, and that there isn't a lot of traffic! Also, the airport is close for when it’s time for vacation or visiting family.
What do you like to do outside of Duke?
I like to spend time with my family and friends, cooking, dancing, listening to podcasts/audiobooks, and binge watch shows.
