Dr. Smith is an Associate Professor in the Department of Head and Neck Surgery & Communication Sciences. Since 2018, she has served as the Co-Chief for the Division of Communication Sciences, and specifically, as the Chief of Audiology across the health system. As Chief of Audiology, Dr. Smith is responsible for advancing and leading patient care, education, research, and community engagement for all aspects of the Audiology program. She works closely with others to ensure that the highest quality and evidenced-based care is provided to patients across the lifespan. She oversees the educational program to promote robust training opportunities for future audiologists and other medical students and professionals interested in those with hearing and balance disorders. Dr. Smith and the audiology team foster an environment that engages in numerous clinical trials and other research initiates to advance our knowledge in hearing and balances disorders. She also leads the department’s efforts in community outreach and engagement to increase the awareness of hearing loss and its impact on overall health and quality of life.
