Every year, faculty and students from the Department of Head and Neck Surgery and Communication Sciences attend the Combined Otolaryngology Spring Meeting (COSM). This year, the conference took place from May 15 to 19 in Chicago, Illinois.
Katherine Gonzalez, a former R25 recipient from the department, submitted posters to the American Head and Neck Society (AHNS) section at the conference and received the "AHNS Best Poster" award for her work on "Crenolanib Improves PD-1 Response and Overall Survival in Immune Checkpoint Inhibitor-Resistant Murine Models of Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma." Her poster was recognized as the best one out of 181 submissions.
"Receiving this award is a significant milestone for me. Beyond the honor itself, it offers valuable exposure within the head and neck surgery community and enhances name recognition, which could potentially open up new opportunities for collaborations and advancements in research and academic medicine," said Katherine.
Katherine works with Dr. Tammara Watts, MD, PhD, in The Watts Laboratory, which focuses on the pathophysiology of the tumor microenvironment in HPV-negative head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.
