April is Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Month, and on Saturday, April 5, Dr. Trinitia Cannon led a team of volunteers to provide head and neck cancer screenings at a Raleigh Firebirds game in Raleigh, NC. The team of volunteers included Shebra Hughes-Frazier, Marquis Guillory, Edward Frails, Belunda Moise, and Nick Frisco (left to right in the photo).
The Raleigh Firebirds, a professional men's basketball team in The Basketball League (TBL), are deeply involved in the community, with STEM and health education being two of their top initiatives. This event provided the perfect opportunity for our team to raise awareness about head and neck cancer.
Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Month is an initiative to encourage adults who are at high risk for head and neck cancer to take advantage of the free screenings our team provides. We extend our gratitude to the Raleigh Firebirds for hosting us and to all the volunteers who came out to support this event.
