
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Woodard has been appointed as the inaugural Vice Chair for Education in the Department of Head and Neck Surgery & Communication Sciences as of June 1, 2025. In this new leadership role, Dr. Woodard will oversee the Department’s educational mission, which encompasses undergraduate medical education (UME), graduate medical education (GME) including residency and fellowship programs, continuing medical education (CME), and faculty development initiatives.
As Vice Chair, Dr. Woodard will serve as the chief advocate for educational excellence within the department. He will work closely with the Chair, division chiefs, and institutional partners to enhance program quality, ensure regulatory compliance, and secure new educational investments. He will also foster faculty engagement in teaching, mentorship, and scholarship, while representing the Department in institutional education forums and contributing to national conversations on best practices in medical education and interprofessional training.
Dr. Woodard continues to serve as Professor and Division Chief of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, Division Chief of Comprehensive Otolaryngology, Otolaryngology Residency Program Director, and Chair of the Accreditation Subcommittee for Duke Graduate Medical Education. We congratulate Dr. Woodard on this well-deserved appointment and look forward to the continued growth and innovation he will bring to our educational programs.
