Clinical and research interests
I am still deciding which subspecialty I would like to pursue, however my research has had a focus in otology/neurotology and laryngology. These projects were centered around retrograde cricopharyngeal dysfunction (RCPD), temporal bone trauma, and pediatric audiology.
What were you looking for in a residency program?
I was looking for a program that would allow me to immerse myself in the various settings and subspecialties of otolaryngology while also supporting my clinical and research interests.
What advice do you have for incoming interns?
Stay grounded in the principles that have made you the person you are today, but allow room for growth. This applies for not only in a clinical sense, but also as a person.
What do you enjoy doing outside of Duke?
I enjoy spending time with my wife and our son, especially getting outdoors and exploring. We enjoy hiking, visiting national/state parks, camping, and finding new places to explore as a family. Coming from Texas, where you often had to drive long distances to enjoy nature, living in the Triangle gives us access to endless outdoor opportunities. I also enjoy cycling, basketball, cooking, and baking.
