What were your main expectations for a residency program?

I was looking for a residency program with well-rounded training covering the breadth and depth of otolaryngology. It was also important to me that the program prioritizes resident education and fosters collegiality among residents and faculty. Given my research interests in population health, I wanted to be at an institution with opportunities for collaborative research across disciplines. I am privileged to be training at Duke which possesses all these characteristics.

What advice do you have for incoming interns?

Be yourself! Consider what is important to you and find a residency program that aligns with your values.

What do you like best about living in Durham and the Triangle?

As a foodie and craft beer fan- the triangle area has a lot to offer! Downtown Durham is very walkable and has a great weekly farmer’s market. I also love that we have access to Broadway on tour at DPAC and the annual American Dance Festival hosts dance companies from across the globe every summer.

What do you like to do outside of Duke?

Dance, yoga, pilates, craft beer, board games, Super Mario, Penn State football
