Minga Helps Shape National Stroke Rehabilitation Guidelines

Jamila Minga, PhD, associate professor in the Duke Department of Head and Neck Surgery & Communication Sciences, served as a writing group member and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association societal liaison for the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association's newly published 2026 Guideline for Adult Stroke Rehabilitation and Recovery.

Minga was invited to join the multidisciplinary guideline writing group in recognition of her expertise in stroke rehabilitation and recovery. According to the American Heart Association, participation on a guideline writing group is a significant commitment that involves an extensive development and consensus process over many months.

The guideline provides evidence-based recommendations to support the rehabilitation and recovery of adults following stroke and reflects the contributions of experts from across disciplines involved in stroke care. As a writing group member, Minga helped develop the national guideline and contributed to the rigorous review and consensus-building process that informed its final recommendations.
