On Tuesday, September 19th, we had the privilege of welcoming Dr. Patrick J. Antonelli, MD, FACS, FAOS, from the University of Florida, as the distinguished inaugural Joseph Siefker Lecturer.
This lectureship was made possible by Dr. Joseph Siefker himself, who, in recognition of the immense value of innovation in medical education for otolaryngology residents, trainees, faculty members, and healthcare professionals, established the Joseph Siefker, MD Medical Education Fund this year. This fund actively supports a wide range of educational initiatives in otolaryngology and communication sciences, including lectures, symposia, and research presentations delivered by experts dedicated to advancing the professional development of our trainees.
Dr. Antonelli shared an insightful presentation on "Educational Challenges & Solutions in Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery."
In addition to Dr. Antonelli's enlightening lecture, Drs. Rocke and Francis also paid heartfelt tributes to Dr. Siefker for his visionary act in establishing this new endowment, highlighting its significance in shaping the future of our Department's residents and fellows. In his remarks, Dr. Siefker emphasized the importance of developing the habit of giving with gratitude so that others can benefit.
