From January 23-25, medical students representing the Department of Head and Neck Surgery & Communication Sciences (HNS&CS) attended and presented at the Triological Society meeting in Orlando, Florida.
Among many excellent research presentations, Duke University School of Medicine’s Avivah Wang, BS, was awarded 1st place in the pediatric otolaryngology category for her poster, “Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) After Pediatric Tonsillectomy: An Opportunity for Quality Improvement.” This achievement was made possible with the mentorship of Jeffrey Cheng, MD, an Associate Professor in the HNS&CS and Pediatrics departments.
Nathan Luzum, BS, also won 1st place in the rhinology & allergy category for his poster, “Analysis of Nasal Function in Patients with Cystic Fibrosis Before and After Elexacaftor/Tezacaftor/Ivacaftor Treatment,” mentored by Dennis Onyeka Frank-Ito, PhD, an Associate Professor in the HNS&CS department.
Founded in 1895, The American Laryngological, Rhinological and Otological Society, Inc., aka The Triological Society, is committed to supporting scholarly otolaryngology research and disseminates basic and clinical research findings at its meetings.
We want to recognize our medical students and their research mentors for these achievements. Congratulations!
